Introducing Dev Blogs

Hey there! As you all might've noticed in the past months there haven't been much updates on the progress regarding Grand Theft Bedrock at all.

How can we change that?

A few days ago, a user recommended doing progress updates, and since we've already prepared the website for a while, we thought of including developer blogs and such with it.

From now on we will continuously update you with news and updates about the server.

A word from the developers

We want to thank everyone who is still patiently waiting for the release of this server, it's been quite a while now.
A special apology goes out to the alpha testers for the long wait.
Initially, we planned to give everyone access to weapons and other base features, but we realized that without a clear objective, it wouldn't make much sense.
Once we're done implementing methods to earn money and reputation points, we're ready to give access to alpha-testers.

Note that everything is subject to change since there are always improvements or ideas we have.

Ambience Overhaul

Welcome to the first dev blog, in this one we'll showcase our ambient system which we recently introduced.

What is an ambience system?

Ambient systems tend to implement ambient sounds such as bird chirping, waves colliding or even just wind rushing by.
They're used to enhance the player's experience and to make them feel more emergedwithin the gameplay.

That's cool but how does it work?

Our ambient sounds work by combining two layers of sound.
The first one is the main layer which will play the general ambience
such as forest sounds or citysounds.
The second one is responsible for random sounds such as a helicopter flying in the distance or a crickets chirping.
Looping the first and randomly playing the second creates a pleasant sound experience.

What if I don't like it?

Simply turn off music, it's as simple as that.
You will still hear the second layer since it's sent as an UI sound but like mentioned before they're rarely sent anyways.

Besides that, we are planning to allow players to edit the ambience sounds for themselves, this way we can work together and who knows maybe your ambience sounds will be the new ones for Grand Theft Bedrock!
